Sixth Annual Scientific session of the Dietitians’ Association of Sri Lanka was held in 27 th March at Union Ball room, Hilton residences, Colombo 2
This time the chief guest of the session was Dr. AselaGunawardana, Director General of HealthServices, Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka
There were nearly 100 participants including invitees, academics of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, Dietitians and Dietetic internship students.
The theme of the Session was “Dietitians’ApproachTo Reduce Health Care Cost Through Proper Nutrition Practices”
The session was enlightened with several guest speeches delivered by experts in different field covering various topics.

• “Involvement of Nutritionist in Public Health Nutrition in Sri Lanka” by Mr. TharangaRanasinghe, Scaling Up Nutrition People’s Forum, Sri Lanka
• “Burden of Gastrointestinal Cancers in Sri Lanka:Incidence and Mortality” by Dr.ShamaGoonethilaka,Consultant Oncologist, Asiri Health
• “Nutrition Management of Gastro Intestinal Cancer Patients” by Dr.RitikaSamaddar, Regional Head Dietetics, Max Health Care, India
• “Power of Nutrition:Wound Healing”by Dr.KamalGamage, Consultant Surgeon, Base Hospital,Horana
• “Impact of Nutrition Adequacy and Hospital Length of Stay After Elective Colorectal Surgery” by Dr.SanjayaAbeygunewardena, Gastroenterological Surgeon, NHSL

One of another important events of the session was the case study presentations by budding dietitians which enable them to share their success stories in clinical practices.
